In recent years, China’s commercial launch vehicle industry has rapidly emerged, forming an initial yet comprehensive industrial chain that spans upstream R&D and manufacturing, midstream launch services, and downstream applications. The upstream segment includes core component development such as rocket system design, propulsion engines, airframes, and avionics, with leading companies like LandSpace, i-Space, and Galactic Energy making breakthroughs in liquid oxygen–methane engines and reusable technologies. The midstream focuses on launch services—coordinating launch sites, telemetry, tracking, and mission integration—with commercial launch infrastructure accelerating in locations like Wenchang (Hainan) and Jiuquan. Downstream applications encompass satellite manufacturing, mega-constellation deployment, and remote sensing or communications services, driving sustained demand for launch capabilities. On the policy front, the Chinese government actively encourages private investment in aerospace, with the 14th Five-Year Plan explicitly endorsing commercial space development. Local governments further support clustering through industrial parks and financial incentives. Although gaps remain in reusable rocket technology and high-cadence launch operations compared to global leaders, rapid technological iteration and growing capital inflows are propelling China’s commercial launch sector toward high-quality, scalable growth.
